my thoughts

As a writer, people always ask where I get my inspiration from. How did I come up with that particular story?

The answer isn't always a clear one. Like all artists, there are times where the muse is obvious, however if words are your creative medium, the muse could be one word, a scene, a thought. For example, in my book Tragedy Doesn't Define Me, there is a story titled, Michael McDoogle 3rd. That name was stuck in my head for days, I have no idea where it came from and I had to give the name a purpose.

The story Claire, in Triumphs and Failures are our Strengths, I had received a drawing of a woman's face and I was intrigued enough to give her a story.

Then there are those stories where I had thoughts of 'what if' or an ending scene in my head and I have to figure out who everyone is and how they got there. One other place I personally find inspiration from is the news. I like to take the character least talked about in the story and find his/her story.
